SYNOPSIS:

Spectacular and unique images that moved the world of shadows to the glow of lights. Sequences that have a sense of history of humanity vibrating in the sigh and desire, in search of a wider reality, in search of a answers deeper inside the human being. A film without dialogues, where the acoustic live music and studio recordings and experimental music, the piano and vocals, merge with the images, in a powerful and indissoluble form.

According to the script, the initial action takes place in ancient times, where a priestess, called Sibylla, accesses inside an old temple, a scared enclosure, a prohibited and dangerous place, located in the heart of a mountain, beyond the tunnel of death . Then , Sibylla enters the enclosure, in order to call forward the unseen powers of light, in a time where the shadows constrain the crystal grid of awareness of the planet.

After the central sequence of the film, Enoc the Resplendent - the Archangel, manifests himself through a voice and a Stargate, and so Enoc, makes a unique release.

This Enoc's communication operates, where ever the viewer wanted, the transmutation, if expected. The rainbow light as a gift of the encounter and the Energy, felt. The pure love.

The final action takes place in the XXI Century, playing piano and feeling the Earth's new breath.

The screener is available online at Cinando.

WE DO IT TOGETHER, the non-profit production company dedicated to finance and produce female driven films, documentaries, TV and other forms of media has announced its first feature film entitled: Together Now – a omnibus of short films created by internationally renowned luminaries. Each segment will pair a female director with a prominent actress in a lead role to tell an inspiring story.

Golden Globe® Winner Robin Wright (House of Cards, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Catherine Hardwicke (Miss You Already, Twilight, Thirteen), Katia Lund (City of God, All The Invisible Children), Patricia Riggen (Miracles From Heaven, The 33), Haifaa Al Mansour (Wadjda), Malgorzata Szumowska (Elles, In the Name Of) and Melina Matsoukas (Rihanna’s We Found Love, Beyoncé’s Formation) are confirmed to each direct a short in Together Now. Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire) and Academy Award® Winner Juliette Binoche (The English Patient, Chocolat) will each star in one of the seven shorts. Carol Polakoff, Shelby Stone and Chiara Tilesi will produce the film.

Production of the film is set to begin in July this year with principal photography taking place in various international locations. All profits generated through the film’s release will be reinvested back to the non-profit production company.

The goal of Together Now is to empower women both creatively in front and behind the camera and to implement a clear action plan that will contribute towards closing down the gender gap in a male dominated industry.

“We are so privileged and excited to have some of the most intelligent and creative artists be part of the first WE DO IT TOGETHER feature film project” said founder Chiara Tilesi. “The goal is to take immediate steps to generate fresh new content that is both insightful and entertaining in order to tell our own stories in our own ways.  If we dream it together, we do it together.”

“I am honored to join We Do It Together as they build a platform for women to create and share stories.” adds director Robin Wright. “The amount of knowledge and ideas are endless. I am thrilled to witness this movement and watch them bring their goals into fruition. It is with great pleasure to announce I will be collaborating with WDIT on my own short on subject that I am deeply passionate about. I look forward to making a mark for women in film.”

As part of the new announcement, the following industry leaders will join the previously announced WE DO IT TOGETHER advisory board: Golden Globe® Winner Robin Wright, Academy Award® Winner Jodie Foster, Grammy Award Winning songwriter Diane Warren, director-actress Valeria Golino (Rain Main), Marvel’s EVP Victoria Alonso, producer Keri Selig, actress Leonor Varela, producer Lucas Akoskin, CAA talent agent Cameron Mitchell, producer Paula Vaccaro, and entertainment attorney Orly Ravid.

Marche du Film and Fantasia Launch an International platform for genre films.

The Marché du Film and the Fantasia International Film Festival have announced further details on a newly launched collaboration to create an international platform for genre films.

The news was released Sunday in Cannes during the Fantastic Fanatics Mixer, a bustling networking cocktail, catering to the genre community here at the Marché du Film. It was well received.

The idea behind this new partnership is to provide an increased level of support to develop, distribute and package Genre films.

The new agreement will include three strong elements spread out over the year.

In July in Montreal, at Fantasia International Film Festival, Frontières will expand to a 4-day co-production market. A selection of 20 projects (10 European and 10 North American) are pitched to 400 prominent industry professionals (producers, financiers, sales agents, distributors). Other activities include one-to-one meetings with the projects, a Work-in-Progress presentation, round-table networking sessions, panels, and networking cocktails.

In February a three-day Packaging & Financing Forum will launch in Amsterdam, in partnership with the Netherlands Film Fund. The Forum has been timed to follow six months after the Frontières Co-Production Market in Montreal, in order to provide a platform to further support the projects.

12 Frontières projects will be presented in Amsterdam that show potential for the international market place, and that are looking to enhance their packaging and financing strategies.

The Forum intends to introduce a community-like atmosphere that has become a trademark of the Frontières event, by providing in-depth meetings with select members of the industry, behind closed doors.

In May the initiative will conclude with a 2-day Pitching event at the Marché du Film to present the most advanced Frontières projects with pitching to financial partners, presentation of proof-of-concept teasers, one-on-one meetings with selected industry leaders, works-in-progress screenings for projects at the post-production stage.

“There are several areas in which we are seeing real growth across the market, and one of those is Genre films,” says the Marché du Film’s Executive Director, Jerome Paillard. “The Marché du Film has long been the leading market to both bring together the industry and present programs that explore new developments in filmmaking, and we are delighted to have kick-started the launch of this expanded Frontières’ initiative, by presenting today’s very successful Genre Film Day, in Cannes. We see great potential in this new venture.”

"We are thrilled to be embarking on a new chapter with the Marché du Film and the Netherlands Film Fund. 2017 will be a year of significant growth and development for the Frontières community specifically geared towards increasing and expanding genre film coproduction and financing." added Lindsay Peters, Director of Frontières.

“The new Forum and our creation of this series of events in Cannes, during the Marché du Film this year, have been designed to maximize follow-up and expedite the packaging process on selected Frontières projects, after their participation in the Frontières Co-Production Market at Fantasia. We are confident that today’s Genre Film Day in Cannes, provided these projects with an ideal opportunity to strengthen their packaging and financing strategies, and key guidance to help them succeed in the international market place,” says Julie Bergeron, Head of Industry Programming at the Marché du Film.

Established in 2012 at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal, the Frontières International Co-Production Market connects North America and Europe with a specific focus on genre film. With 8 editions in the past 5 years, welcoming an average of 400 industry professionals, Frontières has become an essential networking destination for industry professionals seeking to stimulate the co-production and financing of genre films. The 8th edition of Frontières will take place July 21-24 in Montreal at the Fantasia International Film Festival. Frontières is supported by the European Union – Creative Europe – Media program and is made possible thanks to the generous support of Telefilm Canada, SODEC.

European Film Forum creates buzz with public conference and showcases

$

Financing films in the European Union is more of a complicated issue than ever.  The European Film Forum recognizes this and is hosting meetings in Cannes with professionals.  The goal is to exchange views and debate with professionals and stakeholders for inspiration.   The main public conference on Monday May 16th was a huge success and covered many topics under financing European works in the digital age.

Dimitri Rassam, a French film producer, spoke with the panel on how he successfully financed his films.  Dimitri pitched the idea for “The Little Prince” 350 times before receiving any interest and never gave up.  In the end, he received 66 million euros in funding and stated “If you look at it as an international feature, it is not expensive”.  He wanted to emphasize that knowing your target market is essential and you must be honest about your anticipated success.  If your funding goals are not realistic to your market, failure is inevitable.

Throughout the conference, the topic of the rapidly changing market and the importance of adaptation reoccurred.  Danielle Kadeyan, CEO of SOFITVCINE and founder of Media Finance Partners, was passionate about this matter.  “The market has changed and there’s a gap with less presales.  There are more films on offer and there are fewer slots.  It’s just different now. It’s digital” says Danielle.  Some film professionals are remaining stagnant and traditional, but Danielle is encouraging flexibility.

Creative Europe Media wants to encourage more discussion and invites you to future showcases throughout the festival at the Village International (riveria-side) Pavilion 121.

Real film is back. Films on film creating reel buzz at Cannes & Kodak announces opening of NYC-based film lab

Real film is back. With multiple premieres at the 2016 CANNES Film Festival shot on Kodak film, including four features in competition, as well as increased investment across the motion picture film production ecosystem, 2016 marks the moment when film is not only still a viable creative choice, but thriving again.
Speaking at the Festival, Academy AwardTM-winning director and Cannes 2016 Jury Member László Nemes (SON OF SAUL, shot on Kodak 35mm motion picture film) said, “The magic of cinema lies in the craftsmanship. Real film prepares the mind in a different way and prepares the audience for the magic as well. You get less with digital video and this is a regressive step. I want to make sure new generations understand what it means to shoot on film.”
Acclaimed director Jeff Nichols, whose film LOVING (shot on Kodak 35mm motion picture film) premiered at Cannes to a seven-minute standing ovation on Monday night, said, “I’m so glad Kodak is here and committed to film. Shooting film is the best way I know to make a movie.”
In addition to Nichols, the Cannes 2016 films in competition include new works shot on Kodak motion picture film from celebrated directors Olivier Assayas, Xavier Dolan, Hirokazu Kore-eda and Ken Loach.
“Kodak’s decision over 24 months ago to double down on our support of film as a medium was one of the most prescient choices we’ve made,” says Steven Overman, President of Kodak’s Consumer and Film Division. “The first phase of our strategy was threefold: Securing commitments from major studios, engaging leading creative talent in promoting the unique magic of film and partnering with key industry vendors. It’s worked. We’ve turned the trajectory around. In Europe alone, sales of 35mm motion picture film have doubled in 12 months.”
“Kodak realizes we have a responsibility to the motion picture industry, especially to the artists working in the medium,” says Anne Hubbell, Vice President, Motion Picture, Kodak. “Our priority is to ensure that shooting film is easy and that options are readily available. That means supporting the entire international infrastructure, from Hollywood to independents to schools and arts organizations.”
INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENTS
Kodak is making strategic investments to ensure consistent and quality film services in production hubs and major markets. The company will open and operate a motion picture film-processing lab in New York City later this year, which will service 35mm, S16, Super 8 film processing and scanning. Kodak is also working with partners to sustain film processing capabilities around the world. In London, Kodak is making investments in introducing 65mm film processing in a region that has seen a huge increase in major productions shot on film. Great Britain has seen the production of the STAR WARS franchise and Europe is the location for a range of upcoming major releases that are shooting on 65mm, in addition to other film formats.
Kodak is also continuing to invest in upgrades to its film plant in Rochester, N.Y., in 2016, following extensive upgrades made in 2015, in order to meet growing demand for motion picture film. Many other companies, including equipment rental houses and labs around the world, have recently made strategic capital expenditures and infrastructure upgrades in the film space.
A GROWING MOVEMENT
These announcements contribute to a global analog renaissance, a resurgence in “retro-tech” media from vinyl records to printed books to film. In 2015, nearly 100 major motion pictures were captured on film including: 45 YEARS; BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE; THE BIG SHORT; BRIDGE OF SPIES; CAROL; HAIL, CAESAR!; THE HATEFUL EIGHT; JOY; SPECTRE; STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS; STEVE JOBS; JURASSIC WORLD; TRAINWRECK; and many others.
Of late there has also been a tremendous resurgence of micro-budget features shot on film, including the Sundance standout OUTLAWS AND ANGELS, directed by JT Mollner and starring Luke Wilson and Chad Michael Murray; the one-of-a-kind TOO LATE by director Dennis Hauck; and LIKE LAMBS, the brilliant feature by Ted Marcus. All three films have also been projected on film. Ti West’s IN THE VALLEY OF VIOLENCE, starring John Travolta and Ethan Hawke, was also shot on film and a big hit at South by Southwest.
The television series THE WALKING DEAD, shot on Super 16, was as the most popular Cable TV and social media draw of 2015. Major recording artists are also migrating to the medium, as Adele’s record-breaking music video for HELLO and much of Beyoncé’s visual album LEMONADE were shot on film. Last month, Paul Thomas Anderson directed Radiohead’s new short film DAYDREAMING and shipped 35mm prints to be projected in theatres all over the world.
The recent partnership between Kodak and Kickstarter elicited over 300 responses in just two weeks from new motion picture artists wanting to shoot their projects on film and this year’s Super 8 Film Festival held in conjunction with Slamdance garnered 550 submissions. On Wednesday, May 18, Straight 8, an international Super 8 competition, will be screened at the Cinema Les Arcades as part of the Cannes Film Festival, with repeat screenings in London in June. The January 2016 announcement of Kodak’s new Super 8 camera struck a chord not only with the industry but with consumers. On day one of the launch at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Kodak’s Super 8 camera out-trended the event itself on social media and more than 5,000 people have signed up to pre-order.

Because of her culture, economy, politics, and tradition, the Iranian woman has numerous doubts that do not let her have peace of mind. These doubts have caused a big pessimism in her life; pessimism about fate, love, and everything that goes around her. She must kill the demons in her mind every day but they come back to life again. Farnoosh Samadi and Ali Asgari premiere ´THE SILENCE´ at Cannes

THE SILENCE directed by Farnoosh Samadi and Ali Asgari will have its world premiere on May 21st in Cannes in the official short film competition. The film was produced by Giovanni Pompilli of the Italian production company Kino Produzioni and co-produced by Olivier Chantriaux from Filmo. The short film is in the running for the 2016 Short Film Palme d’Or of the 69th Festival of Cannes. THE SILENCE is the story of young kurdish refugee Fatma that has to announce to her mother, her serious medical condition. Instead of translating the truth, Fatma remains silent.

"We moved to Italy for university and as migrants we had several experiences that inspired us to make this film. We chose to tell a simple story about communication because it has a symbolic meaning for us. We believe that the use of language has an important function for the human beings to communicate, but in the context of immigration, it plays even a more essential role." directors Farnoosh Samadi and Ali Asgari explain. "In this short film, we wanted to depict the universe of migrants and their confrontation with a new life after arriving in a new country,“ adds Farnoosh Samadi. "We focused on migrant children as we believed that they are silent witnesses of what is happening around them.“ Take a look of the teaser of the film through this link.

Producer Giovanni Pompilli says: "Producing THE SILENCE has been for us a political and essential act. Migration issues, borders and social introduction are not at the center of the global political debate but are in fact relegated to crime news. THE SILENCE gives food for thought on the meaning of welcoming and sharing through the gentle and poetic view of the directors.“

About the directors
Farnoosh Samadi was born in Iran and graduated from the Fine Arts Academy in Rome. She started her career as a filmmaker at the Iranian Youth Cinema Society and after that she made several video installations. Ali Asgari was born in Tehran, Iran. He studied and graduated with a degree in cinema in Italy and began his career as an assistant director. He's an alumnus of the Berlinale Talent Campus 2013.

They wrote two short films together MORE THAN TWO HOURS directed by Ali which was nominated for a Palme d’Or at Cannes 2013 and THE BABY which was premiered in Short film competition at Venice Film Festival in 2014. Their first feature film script was accepted at the Cinefondation Residence of Cannes Film Festival.
