THE RUNAROUND to star JK Simmons and Emile Hirsch
Oscar winner JK Simmons (WHIPLASH, upcoming TERMINATOR GENISYS) and Emile Hirsch (LONE SURVIVOR, INTO THE WILD) are set to star in the comedy THE RUNAROUND, to be directed by Gavin Wiesen (THE ART OF GETTING BY) from a screenplay by Seth W. Owen (upcoming MORGAN), it was announced today by producers Spring Pictures’ Mandy Tagger Brockey and Adi Ezroni (A LATE QUARTET, KELLY & CAL), American Film Production’s George Voskericyan and J.M.R. Luna (TELL, HELICOPTER MOM), Wing and a Prayer Pictures’ Ron Perlman and Josh Crook (ALL I SEE YOU, BONE IN THE THROAT) and P. Jennifer Dana (IT FOLLOWS, upcoming TABLE 19).
The Solution Entertainment Group is handling international rights to the comedy and will present it to buyers at the upcoming Cannes Film Market. The Gersh Agency and UTA are co-representing US rights.
Set to shoot in Los Angeles in July, the film is produced in association with Abbolita Films and Heretic Films.
When a globe-trotting, workaholic father (Simmons) trying to visit his daughter on a last minute layover in Los Angeles discovers that she's disappeared, he forces her awkward, nervous ex-boyfriend (Hirsch), still nursing a broken heart, to help him find her over the course of one increasingly crazy night.
The financing for the film was arranged by The Gersh Agency and UTA Independent Film Group with the producers counsels: CDAS' Marc Simon for Spring Pictures, Jonathan Gray for Wing and a Prayer Pictures and Elsa Ramo for American Film Production.
Wiesen’s feature film debut, THE ART OF GETTING BY, starring Emma Roberts and Freddie Highmore, premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and was released by Fox Searchlight Pictures worldwide.
Seth W. Owen’s 2014 Black List script, MORGAN, has been greenlit at 20th Century Fox with Kate Mara to star in the psychological thriller. Ridley Scott is producing the project which starts shooting in June in Ireland.
“The producers have assembled a top-notch cast including JK Simmons who is on everyone’s wish list after wowing audiences everywhere with his Oscar winning performance in WHIPLASH, and the versatile Emile Hirsch on board. The script is a wildly entertaining ride from start to finish and we can’t wait to bring this film to audiences,” said Lisa Wilson and Myles Nestel, co-founders and partners of The Solution Entertainment Group.
JK Simmons won the Academy Award this year and received critical acclaim for his performance in Damien Chazelle’s worldwide festival hit WHIPLASH. He will next be seen in the highly anticipated TERMINATOR GENISYS to be released by Paramount Pictures on July 1st and the upcoming Warner Bros.’ film THE ACCOUNTANT with Ben Affleck and Anna Kendrick. He is currently shooting THE MEDDLER with Susan Sarandon and Rose Byrne. His other credits include JUNO, the SPIDER-MAN trilogy and THANK YOU FOR SMOKING.
Emile Hirsch was last seen in Universal Pictures’ box office hit LONE SURVIVOR co-starring Mark Wahlberg and Taylor Kitsch. His other feature film credits include INTO THE WILD, KILLER JOE, MILK and THE GIRL NEXT DOOR. He will next be seen in The Solution’s Sundance selection TEN THOUSAND SAINTS with Ethan Hawke to be released later this year and VINCENT-N-ROXXY opposite Zoë Kravitz, in post-production. Hirsch recently finished production on THE AUTOPSY OF JANE DOE opposite Brian Cox.
Simmons is repped by The Gersh Agency, Hirsch by UTA, Wiesen by Frank Wuliger at The Gersh Agency and Owen by WME and Apostle Management’s George Heller.

Two Norwegian Films from the South in cannes competitions
Norwegian director Joachim Trier’s new feature, Louder than Bombs, is not the only Norwegian contribution for the Un Certain Regard programme at the upcoming Cannes International Film Festival, which runs between 13-24 May – also two Films from the South, with Norwegian co-producers, are among the official entries.
Financed by the Norwegian Foreign Ministry, and managed by the Norwegian Film Institute and the Films from the South Foundation, the fund - which earlier this month (April) supported seven new films from development countries - has participated in Ethiopian director Yared Zeleke’s Lamb and Thai director Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s Cemetary of Splendour, both with Norwegian co-producers.
Lamb
Zeleke’s feature debut – the first Ethiopean film ever screening in the festival’s official programme – is the story of nine-year-old Ephraim and his beloved companion, a sheep named Chuni. When his mother dies from hunger, his father sends him – and Chuni – to live with distant relatives in a greener part of the country. Ephraim soon becomes a homesick outcast, and when he is ordered to slaughter Chuni, he knows it is time to return – for both of them. Lamb was produced by Slum Kid Films-Ethiopia, with Norway’s Farm Films (Alan R. Milligan).
Cemetary of Splendour
In Cemetary of Splendour, Weerasethakul - whose Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall his Past Lives won the 2010 Palme d’Or in Cannes – follows a middle-aged woman, who visits the hospital in a small town in Thailand, where 27 soldiers are admitted with a strange case of sleeping sickness. She develops a relationship with one of them, entering a dream-like and mythical world. The film was produced by Kick The Machine-Thailand, with Norway’s Tordenfilm (Eric Vogel and Ingunn Sundelin).
Digital Film Cloud Network (DFCN) partners with Cinando
Digital Film Cloud Network (DFCN) announced today a partnership with Cinando, the professional film database launched and managed by the Marché du Film. Together Cinando and DFCN will address the growing inefficiencies in the physical film rights markets which are being driven by the increasing number of new films entering into the market each year. Through this partnership all Cinando users are able to easily integrate their existing accounts onto DFCN, making it possible to create profiles for each project on the DFCN platform by simply using the information which was already on the Cinando database. Through DFCN’s platform, users and content creators can easily streamline the business process of financing, licensing, and distributing their product, whether it is film or television. Ultimately, this collaboration allows buyers to access more products, increase sales for sales agents and sellers, and reduce overall costs for both parties.
DFCN is the first in the industry to offer a secure, global, cloud-based software platform that automates and streamlines the end-to-end business processes associated with financing and licensing of motion pictures. Commercially launched in November 2014, the DFCN Film Rights Marketplace has since rapidly grown to over 10,000+ films trading within its marketplace. With the integration of the DFCN and Cinando software platforms, Cinando’s 60,000+ users will be able to easily browse, acquire, and make their movie rights available within the DFCN Film Rights Marketplace, 24x7 globally.
“With over 8,000 films entering the global distribution market this year, and 200,000+ Sales Agents, Distributors and Exhibitors scattered across the world, each with their own business objectives, rights holdings, sales plans, and revenue targets, the approach of buying and selling movie rights licenses at physical marketplaces has become a costly and highly inefficient proposition,” said Ray Bell, CEO of Digital Film Cloud Network. “Our rapid customer growth and industry-wide endorsement is testament to the demand for an online marketplace that directly addresses these growing issues.”
“We are excited to be able to offer our Cinando users the ability to easily post their films in the DFCN Film Rights Marketplace for financing and licensing,” said Jérôme Paillard, Executive Director of Cinando and Marche du film. “We need to erase the boundaries between physical and digital markets to increase the efficiency of film professionals. This is a radical step that only Marche du film, Cinando, and solutions as DFCN can deliver.”
This is the first of many steps in what looks like the future of movie rights trading, operating in a more efficient way that will reduce the costs of sales and acquisition, and which will increase sales through global reach.
Alfredo Guilbert, COO Digital Film Cloud Network added, “The end goal of our partnership with Cinando is to provide film professionals with the ability to leverage both the physical and virtual markets more cost-effectively trade and move their film projects forward.”

Transformational Documentary following the traditions of THE SECRET
Shot in the rarely seen, sumptuous 35mm format with a larger-than-life score performed by the Prague Symphony Orchestra, the film delivers a timely, yet timeless message that is totally vital to literally everybody on earth.
Apollo Astronaut, Edgar Mitchell, Canadian Environmental Scientist and well-known Broadcaster, Dr. David Suzuki, Internet Health Guru, Dr. Joseph Mercola, Earthing innovators Clint Ober and Dr. Stephen Sinatra, his healed son, Step Sinatra, the film's creator, Steve Kroschel and the lovely Laura Koniver, M.D. are all validating the ancient but forgotten theory.
The film informs us about the little-known fact that the Earth's surface emits a constant stream of electrons, which neutralize the disease-causing free radicals in our bodies. Nature Deficit Disorder, a recently identified syndrome of chronic, inflammatory conditions, which manifest in an array of body aches and fatigue, non-restorative sleep and a poor immune system, among other complaints, all of which are caused by staying inside all day and wearing shoes at virtually all times thus, being deprived from from the naturally-healing electrons, which constantly flow from the surface of the Earth.
The practice of making regular skin contact with the Earth, like taking barefoot walks on the beach or on the grass - or better yet - swimming in natural bodies of water - have been clinically shown to help heal chronic inflammatory diseases in 95% of all cases.
If you are an Earthling, this film has an important and uplifting message for YOU.
