Eshragh is the biggest non state animation and VFX production company in Iran which has passed a quite revolutionary path through the last decade. Regarding the significant role of animation in today cinema and the great event of Animation Day in Cannes, I thought you might be interested to know about our experience here and help us know a little bit more about what’s going to happen in the event.
Unfortunately animation has not found its real place in Iranian cinema yet and it has always received scant attention. In Iran the average production capacity of animation is maximally 30 minutes per month which majority of them lack creativity because they have been ordered by the government and due to their policy, audience is always ignored. Just imagine it takes three years to create an animated TV series consists of 13 episodes each 10 minutes under the conventional production system.
So the main thing that caught my attention and made me merge Stunning Media with Eshragh was the completely revolutionary movement in two vital sections of production and content. That is, after a lot of research and study Eshragh could reach the production capacity of 100 minutes per month with high quality. Another accomplishment was to produce the most professional animated feature in the annals of Iranian Cinema called “Release from Heaven” which attracted global attention in last year Cannes film festival. The company also presented its latest project (in production phase) which is a musical animated feature called “Simorgh” in the Best seller to Box Office in Cannes 2015.
It’s undeniable that such breakthroughs could have not been done without a powerful R&D department, talented team and also an exclusively designed and programmed software called “DNA”.
It’s worth to mention that the CEO of Eshragh is a managing board member of ASIFA in Iran and also a member of ASIFA Hollywood, who has always tried his best to prepare the ground for animation to find its real place here by producing valuable independent project which have received international acclaim.
