Worldwide--Producers Bruno Chatelin of Major Buzz Factory, Harris Salomon of Atlantic Overseas Pictures, and Marisela d'Baldriche of The Versatile Group of Hollywood, are proud to announce that their premiere property, DIRECT DESCENDANT, is in its second phase of development. Marisela explains: "This script was the work of an international team of researchers who were determined to uncover the truth about one of the most complex personalities of World War II."
Direct Descendant follows William Patrick Hitler, Adolf's English-born nephew, as he tries to make his way in Germany. When William fails to flourish in his father's land, he decides to blackmail his Uncle. William and his mother, Brigid, proceed to enact a great act of revenge against the Hitler family, only finding safe refuge in the United States following their success. Harris stated, "This brings to light the Hitler family, something Adolf himself rarely spoke about. He had sisters and a brother who each had families. These people played a key role in the monster Adolf became and the course of the war."
One of the many unusual factors in the project is the way women are treated in the script. Marisela adds, "No one has more steel than Brigid Hitler, Adolf's English-born sister-in-law. She is a fierce Mom, who takes on the entire Nazi party for her son's welfare."
Now that the project has secured initial financing, the producers have begun to select final talent.
For more information about the project, or to receive investor packs or copies of the script, please connect withMarisela@versatilegroupofhollywood.com.

The story revolves around the two main characters meeting for sex without knowing anything about each other or the life of the other person. For its 2016 edition, the Marché du Film, the market arm of the Festival de Cannes, is welcoming an extensive raft of new territories to the Riviera.
Front and center are the half-dozen new pavilions in the Village International where the world’s filmmakers meet in Cannes.
New, this year, are pavilions from as far afield as Catalonia and Cairo, while China has two tents in the Village to call home. It is the first time that China has had a presence in the Village.
The first pavilion is an initiative of the China Film Foundation and its division, the Wutianming Film Fund, which is dedicated to supporting and training next gen Chinese talent, through a series of programs and partnerships with film festivals.
Launched in honor of the late filmmaker of the same name, the Fund is also sending five Chinese producers to join the Producers Network program, this year, as well as hosting the pavilion.
The second Chinese pavilion, China Eden is backed by Eden Investment Management (CEI), an investment management company, launched in September 2015, with RMB100m in funding.
Based in Shanghai’s Free Zone, Eden is active in private equity investment, secondary market equity investment, film and entertainment investment and asset management. A series of investment related panels are planned for the pavilion, as well as sessions on creating the future film industry in China.
Other new pavilions include one from Israel’s Ministry of Culture and Sport. The Israeli pavilion will present Israeli cinema, with a special focus on contemporary cinema, virtual reality and next gen filmmakers.
Egypt and Sri Lanka, meanwhile, have both taken pavilions through their tourism offices, while entities as diverse as the Cairo International Film Festival and the European cinema support fund, Eurimages, have also found a home here for the first time. This year, there are ten films backed by Eurimages at the Festival, including four in competition.
Cairo International Film Festival will take place from November 15-24, 2016 under the direction of critic Youssef Cherif Rizkallah.
Other newcomers to the Village for 2016, include Catalan Film & TV, which is dedicated to the promotion of the audiovisual industries from the Catalan region, and France’s Ministry of the Interior.
“The International Village acts as a home from home in Cannes for thousands of filmmakers and film organizations from all over the world, who travel here from afar, and add a great deal of international flair to the Marché du Film,” says the Marché du Film’s Executive Director, Jerome Paillard.
“The Village gives our participants a one-stop-shop to discover film initiatives, new partners and projects from far and wide, and we are proud to welcome our new tenants.”
Elsewhere, the Marché is welcoming filmmakers from a range of added territories. This includes emerging filmmakers from an expanded eight regions, being presented through the Goes to Cannes Initiative. New partners include the Los Cabos Film Festival and the IFFP Panama, which will present filmmakers from as far afield as the Caribbean and Central America. Arab World films-in-progress will be shown in partnership with the Dubai International Film Festival and market, as part of this program.
Meanwhile, the popular Spotlight series, which is an established part of the Producers Network, has been expanded. This year, it will showcase producers from five countries, including South Africa, The Netherlands, Mexico, Canada, and Poland, and, new for 2016, film projects from Brazil and Palestine.
“The Marché has always been a global affair, but this year it feels more international than ever,” says Julie Bergeron, Head of Industry Programming. “We are happy to welcome entire contingents of filmmakers through our new pavilion partners, as well as individual filmmakers, both large and small, through our series of initiatives and platforms, like Cannes Goes and the Spotlights. Bon voyage.”

As the world of film, television and theater continues to get increasingly competitive, it can be nearly impossible to land your dream job or to hire the perfect crew. However, with Stage 32, an online platform created to help you get connected with people in the entertainment industry, life is made seemingly easier.
Richard Botto, the CEO/Founder of Stage 32, spoke with a panel on Thursday, May 12 at the Cannes Film Festival on how to utilize his website and how to find success in the ever-changing world of entertainment. Originally started as an American business, the platform is slowly becoming more popular all over the world. While it’s a slow progression internationally, Botto said they are continuing to encourage and promote people from all corners of the globe to post and get connected with their site. “People have to take the first initiative and go forward with putting themselves out there,” said Botto.
Referred to as the LinkedIn of the entertainment industry, the website has already had ample success in its four short years. According to Botto, over 250 writers from the platform had material purchased or have been given writing assignments over the last 3 years. More impressively, Stage 32 has 31 members screening at the Marche this year, one member even has four films in competition for the Palm d’Or. “All the success stories we’ve talked about came initially from being visible and active and participant,” said Botto.
One of the main topics touched on at the press conference was the importance of creating connections all over the world. While some people remain skeptical of how connecting with someone from 500 miles away could be useful, Botto explained that “it’s a global world and you never know when a project will take you somewhere else.” He even went on to share one of his own personal success stories of how he got his screenwriting manager. An agent in Montreal contacted him saying they wanted to work with him and Botto said that, at the time, he didn’t see the importance of replying due to the fact that the agent was across the country from him. However, he thought he’d take a leap of faith and answer and it ended up leading to him finding a successful manager and opened so many doors for him. “You have to keep an open mind and be willing to stay open,” shared Botto.
Upcoming developments for the site include adding and creating a virtual reality (VR) presence. Botto and his team have been creating some VR classes to help actors better prepare and get in the scene. They want the actors to actually feel that they’re on a stage or in the environment they’re trying reenact. The website also offers a lot of free education and is constantly developing more information and classes available to members.

Jena Malone (THE HUNGER GAMES franchise) has been set to star in A MOMENT TO REMEMBER to be directed by Ben Lewin (THE SESSIONS). Brian O'Shea, CEO of The Exchange, is selling international rights to the film at the 2016 Marché du Film in Cannes.
A MOMENT TO REMEMBER tells the tender story of a young husband whose wife (Malone) is stricken with a disease that wipes away her memory. He then desperately tries to give her one last memory of their love before it's too late.
A MOMENT TO REMEMBER is written by Lewin and Susannah Grant (ERIN BROCKOVICH, POCAHONTAS, THE 5TH WAVE).The film is produced by Mark Amin (FRIDA, MILES AHEAD), Cami Winikoff (GOOD KILL, STONEHEARST ASYLUM), and Scott Lambert (PARANOIA).
"Jena is honest and vulnerable with an authentic presence. She is the perfect actress for A MOMENT TO REMEMBER," said Lewin.
